The Puerto Rico Islanders Look to extend its Unbeaten Streak against the MLS-Bound Montreal Impact

The Puerto Rico Islanders travel to Saputo Stadium this Sunday to square off against the MLS-Bound Montreal Impact. Kickoff is set for 2:30pm. The Islanders are currently riding a seven game unbeaten streak, including four games on the road. Puerto Rico returns home to play Isidro-Metapan this Wednesday, Aug 3rd in CONCACAF play. Kick off is set for 8:00pm.

About the Islanders

The Puerto Rico Islanders are currently in second place with eight wins, four losses and five ties for a total of 29 points. On July 20th the Islanders continued to show their dominance at home, beating the Fort Lauderdale Strikers 3-1, continuing their 2011 NASL home undefeated streak, and becoming the only team in the NASL that has not lost at home. The “Orange Troop” is currently riding a four-game undefeated streak on the road, and have earned and important eight points on the road, recently beating the Atlanta Silverbacks 4-3 at Silverback Stadium.

Welcome Back

The Islanders will be able to count on Alexis Rivera and Marco Velez for the trip to Saputo Stadium. Both Puerto Rican defenders will be at Colin Clarke’s disposition for the matchup this Sunday in Montreal.

About the Impact

The Impact lost their last game against the Stars 1-0, at the National Sports Center, in Blaine, Minnesota on July 22nd. Montreal hasn’t lost in its last five games at Saputo Stadium. Eduardo Sabrango scored twice in the against the Atlanta Silverbacks to propel the Impact to a 2-2 tie against the Atlanta Silverbacks. Central defender Cameron Knowles and midfielder Ryan Pore will be available Sunday to play their first game with the club.The Impact are currently in 8th place.

Puerto Rico also plays in its third consecutive CONCACAF Champions League. After a 2-0 lose  against Salvadorian club Isidro Metapan, last Wednesday, in the first leg of the preliminary round. The “Orange Troop” will return home to play the second leg on August 3, in Bayamon.
