Bayamon, Puerto Rico – Puerto Rico Islanders striker Jonathan Faña has been selected by the Domincian Republic for their World Cup Qualyfying matches against Anguila on July 8th and July 10th.
“We wish Jonathan the best with his national team. We are going to miss him this weekend, but any time you can represent your national team it's always an honor, and we know Jonathan with represent the Islanders proudly,” said General Manager Eduardo Carvacho.
This is Faña's sixth cap with the Dominican National team, scoring five goals in his previous national team appearances. In league play, Fana currently places second in the NASL with eight goals in fourteen games.
The Islanders return to action this Saturday, July 9th against FC Tampa Bay at Juan Ramon Loubriel. Kick off is set for 8:00pm.
