A Champion's Return

After several months of waiting, the Puerto Rico Islanders are excited to host their 2011 home opener tonight at 8:00pm in Bayamón where the ‘Tropa Naranja’ will face the NSC Minnesota Stars. The Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium will open its doors to fans this season as the home of the defending NASL/Division II Champions.

The NSC Minnesota Stars are undefeated so far - with a road win against the Atlanta Silverbacks and a home tie against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The Islanders come into the game with a perfect record of two wins, both on the road, against FC Tampa Bay and the Carolina RailHawks.

2011 marks the second season for the NSC Minnesota Stars. The Islanders and the Stars have only met twice before – with the Islanders leading the all-time series between these teams with a win and a draw (1-0-1). The Islanders are looking to continue their winning ways and celebrate their return to Bayamón with yet another victory for the fans.
