The Islanders prepare for their Home Opener
Posted on Thu, Apr 21, 2011

The Puerto Rico Islanders resumed training this morning after a short break following their second win of the season at Tampa Bay.  The Tropa Naranja had an intense session at Bayamón Soccer Complex in preparation for their home opener against NSC Minnesota Stars on Tuesday, April 26 at 8:00pm.

"The guys have worked really hard and deserved a couple of days off after the two wins on the road.  They came in this morning ready to begin training for the first home game of the season.  That first win at home is very important and we are preparing well for it", said Islanders assistant coach Adrian Whitbread.

Last week the 2010 Champions won their second game of the season against FC Tampa Bay by a score of 2-0, both goals by forward Jonathan Faña, who was then named Offensive Player of the Week.

This was the second straight week a Puerto Rico Islanders attacking player was selected as the NASL Offensive Player of the Week, with Josh Hansen being named on Week 1 after a goal and an assist in the 2-1 win against the Railhawks.

Following the home opener on the 26th, the Islanders will have their second home game of the season against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Friday, April 29th at 8:00pm at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium in Bayamón.
