The Puerto Rico Islanders are pleased to announce the appointment of Eduardo Carvacho as the Club’s General Manager.  Carvacho will begin his tenure with the team April 25, 2011.

“We continue to take big steps forward.  Carvacho’s character, passion, and unique qualifications will lead our organization into higher levels and will expand our persisted contribution to the development of soccer in Puerto Rico”, stated Islanders’ President Andrés Guillemard-Noble.

Carvacho joins the Puerto Rico Islanders after six years with Major League Soccer as a professional sports marketer with a dynamic business background in communications, media, international relations, sponsorship and ticket sales.

He has successfully combined his soccer playing and coaching career with a strong knowledge in the creation and management of specific Hispanic business departments for Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs Columbus Crew and FC Dallas, pioneering successful bi-lingual programs and services.

“It is a tremendous honor to be selected as General Manager of the Puerto Rico Islanders”, expressed Carvacho. “I would like to thank the ownership group for their trust in my abilities to guide this fantastic organization into new heights.  I am ready to take an active role in elevating and impacting the growth and development of soccer in Puerto Rico”, he added.

The Puerto Rico Islanders recently joined the North American Soccer League (NASL). The NASL is the Division II men’s outdoor professional soccer league in the United States, with participating clubs from Canada and Puerto Rico.  Member teams are: Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina Railhawks, FC Edmonton, FC Tampa Bay, Fort Lauderdale Strikers, NSC Minnesota Stars, Montreal Impact (joining MLS in 2012), Puerto Rico Islanders, and the San Antonio Scorpions FC (beginning play in 2012).

“Puerto Rico Islanders affiliation with a professional soccer league as prestigious as the NASL will open additional opportunities to impact the entire region, and provides a solid foundation for our fans, youth players and administrators to enjoy this great game for generations to come”, Carvacho concluded.

The Islanders will host their home opener on Tuesday, April 26th at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium in Bayamón against NSC Minnesota Stars.  It will be Carvacho’s first game day experience with the Tropa Naranja and their loyal fans in Puerto Rico.
