The Puerto Rico Islanders FC announced that Joseph “Jackie” Marrero was called up to represent Puerto Rico in the upcoming Under 20 World Cup qualifying group towards the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey. Puerto Rico is part of Group A in the final round of the qualifiers, with Trinidad and Tobago, Curacao and Haiti. Group A will be played in Kingston Jamaica from November 3rd to the 10th.

“As I always say, it is great news whenever a player gets called up for their country. It is great for them and for the club because it is a reflection of the kind of players we have. We could not be prouder,” said Head Coach Adrian Whitbread.

The Puerto Rico Men’s U20 National Team advanced to the Final Round of the Under-20 World Cup Qualifiers last July when they finished their matches with one tie and two victories, summing up the seven points that took them to the next stage. Puerto Rico’s first match on this final round will be on Monday, November 5th against Trinidad and Tobago.
