It was a good week of international match ups for Puerto Rico Islanders' players called to defend their colors. A dozen players joined their national teams between September 6th through the11th in matches for the Caribbean Cup and World Cup Qualifiers.
Meanwhile, 10 Islanders traveled under the supervision of Jeaustin Campos to fight for Puerto Rico's ticket to the second round of the Caribbean Cup, event which awards 4 tickets to next year's Gold Cup. Alexis Rivera, Marco Vélez, Anthony Vázquez, Richard Martínez, Andrés Pérez, Noah Delgado, Joshua Hansen, Tyler Wilson, Jackie Marrero and Hector "Pito" Ramos traveled to Haiti for 3 games of the Cup's Group 1. Pito Ramos saved Puerto Rico of a draw on their first game, scoring the 2-1 on the dying minutes of the game. Marrero scored the initial goal of that match and Noah Delgado scored a brilliant free kick in the last match against Haiti. But the match that everybody was talking about was the 9-0 historic showcase against St. Maarten. Delgado would score once, Marrero a brace and Ramos would net four. The Huracan Azul's back four, composed mostly of Islanders defenders, allowed only 3 goals in 3 matches.
