In relation to the 'Messi & Friends' event:

The Puerto Rico Islanders were invited by the producer Maritza Casiano to the event ‘Messi and Friends vs Puerto Rico Islanders’ announced for June 4th at the Hiram Birthorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. For the club, it was an honor to receive said invitation due to the magnitude of the event, the charities involved, and the importance of the great Lionel Messi visiting Puerto Rico.

However, the club has absolutely no control over the production or responsibilities surrounding the planning of the event, nor are we involved in the agreements between Lionel Messi’s player agents and the promotional firm Premier International Group. Both sides should reach an agreement soon and will inform the club of the event’s status.

The Islanders will continue to be available for this event due to the magnitude of it and the charities that would benefit. We hope that everything will be dilucidated and that the event will take place in order to continue working for the growth of soccer in Puerto Rico in any way possible as well as supporting charitable organizations in our community.
