Islanders Welcomed to Quintana
Posted on Wed, Aug 15, 2012

The Puerto Rico Islanders were pleased to attend a local soccer tournament held in Quintana last week. The young but growing soccer culture of Puerto Rico was fully on display at the Soccer specific field of the small neighborhood.

The Islanders are proud to be committed to growing and developing the sport of soccer on our Island. The Academia Quintana is a perfect example of an essential public service that provides a valuable and fun alternative for urban youth in Puerto Rico.

“We love going to tournaments and games here in Quintana,” team representative Hector Maldonado explains, “This area is to us what Boca is for Argentina.”

At this particular tournament, the culture is the only richness around. The Islanders are proud to have provided the community and academy with specialized Islanders soccer balls to fans and players who could otherwise not have them. It is this type of spirit that can only help develop the sport on the island and the communities that play it.
