Countdown: Seven Greatest CONCACAF Moments

July 24, 2012 - (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) For a club only founded in 2003, the Puerto Rico Islanders FC has found success from their incipience.  The Islanders have already collected official FIFA winners' honors twice in the CFU Club Championships and have won the USSF Division 2 championship. After securing and continually defending their title as the “Kings of the Caribbean”, the 2012 Islanders now look for the highest club honors the region: the  CONCACAF Champions League. 

The Islanders have participated in the tournament since its formation in 2008. They are one of only three teams to have qualified for every Champions League tournament. Through their competition, the Islanders have forged themselves into CONCACAF history with some truly exciting and memorable games and goals.  It is our honor to present the Islander’s Top 7 Moments  in CONCACAF Champions League.  

 The team begins their quest for the 2012 cup in Group 5. The Islanders will begin play in El Salvador to play A.D. Isidro Metapán on Wednesday, August 1st. The Islanders then travel to Los Angeles, California to face off against MLS giants LA Galaxy on August 29th. The two home games in the group stage for the Islanders will be September 19th and 27th at the renovated Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium.
