After almost a full year of renovations, the Puerto Rico Islanders are pleased be the latest NASL franchise with a football specific soccer facility. Estadio Juan Ramón Loubriel is nearing its reopening as the permanent home for the Puerto Rico Islanders starting Saturday, August 18th. The Islanders have been playing their home matches at Bayamón Soccer Complex during the construction.
"The Islanders fans have a history of being extraordinary. We have had amazing crowds at Bayamon Soccer Complex but I know going back to the "Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium" it will continue to be one of the toughest places to play. I know the rest of the team is looking forward to returing home," said Islanders' Captain Noah Delgado.
JRL Stadium will host its next match on Wednesday, August 15, as the footballing Champions of the World, Spain, visit the island for a friendly match against the Puerto Rican National Team. The Islanders will return to action at the Loubriel when they square off against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. During the month of September, in addition to NASL action, the Islanders will also be hosting the LA Galaxy on September 19th and Isidro Metapán on September 27th.
