Puerto Rico Islanders Look to Return to First Place
Posted on Fri, Jun 22, 2012

The Puerto Rico Islanders visit the Atlanta Silverbacks at Atlanta Silverbacks Park this Saturday, June 23rd, looking to get back the first place in North American Soccer League (NASL) standings. Fans can watch the game at the Islanders' Watch Party in Coladas Fine Puerto Rican Cuisine and Frozen Drink Bar at Verdanza Hotel in Isla Verde, starting at 7:00 p.m. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m.

About the Islanders

The Puerto Rico Islanders visit Atlanta after falling 0-2 to the San Antonio Scorpions at Bayamón Soccer Complex and losing their season-long first place in league standings. However, the Islanders won third place at CFU, which gives them a slot on this year’s CONCACAF Champions League, where they will face the LA Galaxy and Isidro Metapán. This Saturday they look to get back first place, since they are only two points behind the  current leader San Antonio Scorpions.

About the Silverbacks

The Atlanta Silverbacks are currently in last place in league standings with 8 points. But even though they have not won a home game this season, the Silverbacks have one of the two top scorers of the league, Reinaldo Navia with 6 goals. In addition to Ciaran O'Brien’s assists, this could be the Silberbacks’ key to snapping their losing streak.
