CFU Semi Final Preview

The Puerto Rico Islanders  will particpate in  the final round of CFU Caribbean Clubs Championship between June 18th and June 21st.  The final round will take place in Trinidad & Tobago, with three of the four teams advancing to CONCACAF Champions League. The Islanders will square off against W Connection in their first match tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. You can follow all the action on the Islanders' official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Team: W-Connection

Year Established: 1986

Titles: Trinidad and Tobago Pro League Championships (3) 2000, 2003, 2005

CFU (4) – 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007

Key Players:  Jarrel Britto leads his team with 7 goals in the T&T Pro League.

Quick Hits:

-          Jonathan Fana will face his old team in W Connection, where he started from 2006 through 2009 winning a CFU Championship in 2006.

-          W Connection will be playing all its games at their home stadium, Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marbella,  Trinidad and Tobago.

-          The  “Savonetta Boys” finished in first place in the T&T pro league with 40 points.  They  only lost 7 games all season.

 

Team : Antigua Barracudas FC

Year Established: 2010

Titles: None

Key Players:  Stefan Smith leads the team with 9 points including 4 goals. He also leads the team in shots taken with 23. Quinton Griffith has 2 goals and leads the team in minutes with 867.

Quick Hits:

-          Antigua Barracudas are coming off a 2-0 loss to the reigning USL-Pro Champions, Orlando City SC.

-          The Barracudas are currently in 10th place with 6 points in 10 games.

-          Eighteen players from the Antigua Barracudas have  been called into the Antigua National Team.

 

Team: Caledonia A1A

Year Established : 1979

Titles: None

Key Players: Devon Jorsling leads Caledonia in goals this season with 8 goals in the Trinidad & Tobago Pro League. Both Ataulla Guerra, and Jamal Gay have scored 7 goals on the Pro League rounding out their explosive offense.

Quick Hits:

-          The Puerto Rico Islanders played to a scoreless draw with Caledonia A1A in the previous stage of CFU action, where they finished second in the group behind the Puerto Rico Islanders.

-          Caledonia A1A  finished in 3rd place in the Trinidad & Tobago Pro League with 38 points.

-          Caledonia will square off against the Antigua Barracudas for a ticket to the CFU Finals on Tuesday.
