The Puerto Rico Islanders look to maintain their first place in the NASL standings this Saturday when they receive the San Antonio Scorpions at Bayamón Soccer Complex.
"These are the games any player wants to play in, a top table clash. San Antonio are on a great run of form at the moment and they will be looking to knock us off our top spot. My players are prepared and ready to go," said Head Coach Adrian Whitbread.
The Islanders lead NASL with 20 points, position they hold since the beginning of the season. They receive the Scorpions in an undefeated home field and having won their last two matches at the "Islandera".
The San Antonio Scorpions are just one point below the Islanders, holding second place with 19 points. This Saturday, they will try to be the first team to take the lead away from the Islanders and travel to Bayamón Soccer Complex after defeating the Atlanta Silverbacks 3 - 0.
Both teams have “Top Five” scorers: Forwards David Foley from the Puerto Rico Islanders and Pablo Campos from San Antonio Scorpions, both with goals this season. While the Islanders remain undefeated at home since last season, the Scorpions look to avenge the only defeat they’ve received this season, when they fell 0 - 4 to the Islanders at Heroes Stadium last April 15th.
We encourage our fans to arrive early and to support our Islanders. There will also be free transportation between the Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium and the Bayamon Soccer Complex. We hope to see you all there!
