Islanders Look to Remain in First Place
Posted on Fri, Jun 8, 2012

The first place Puerto Rico Islanders host the Tampa Bay Rowdies this Saturday at the Bayamón Soccer Complex. This will be the first of a two game home stand before the team travels to Trinidad and Tobago to defend their CFU Championship. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

“We'll back to home action this weekend and I’m sure the boys can’t wait to put last weekend’s result behind them. They have knuckled down to a hard week’s training though actions speak louder than words. We received some bad news late in the week that we lost Jaime Cunningham to a season ending injury. The players took it upon themselves to dedicate the rest of the season to Jamie. TODOS SOMOS UNO JAMIE.”

 About the Islanders

The Puerto Rico Islanders will be putting their undefeated streak at home on the line against the Rowdies.  The Islanders are still extending its home winning streak from last season, when they finished the regular season unbeaten.  Behind David Foley’s explosive offense, the Islanders will look to continue to lead the NASL is goals scored.

 About the Rowdies

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rowdies bring in their clean defense to the Bayamón Soccer Complex, having been penalized with only 14 yellow cards this season, fewest in the League. Also, their goalkeeper, Jeff Attinella, will be a task for the Islanders to score against, having saved 41 shots this season so far.
