Hola Todos
Well, time to catch up with you all again and what a fantastic start to the season it has been!!
Though I must stress, like I have told all the players, it is only a start. This game of football can change so quickly and from Saturday night through until last night I have told all the players, coaching and front office staff, it is now time to re-focus and work even harder..
You achieve nothing in life without hard work and determination.
Friday saw us leave for a long road trip with 4 games in 7 days and the squad will be stretched to the max. But as I have said all along, we have quality and depth to deal with this. Every player knows that they have to be ready when their number is called.
We started with a league visit to the Carolina RailHawks. As they say “Take each game as it comes” and all our focus was geared towards that game.
Also, this past week had me seen a little bit short staffed as my Assistant had to make his final trip to finish up on his UEFA A coaching license. The good news came through that he passed with flying colors but I told him, in no uncertain terms, he is not having my job yet ... jajajajajaja CONGRATULATIONS Jack!! You deserve it!!
So with Jack away, I returned to laundry duty. For all you housewives and housemen toiling through players' sweaty underwear isn’t my kind of fun but you got to do what you’ve got to do.
We are currently in the Cayman Islands defending our CFU championship. As it stands, no team has ever won it three times and that is what we are striving to do. We earned a draw on Monday against the two time Trinidad & Tobago champions, Caledonia AIA and I couldn’t be more proud of my guys. After playing 3 games in seven days and traveling the day before the match, the boys left it all on the field. Our next match is on Friday against George Town SC, the local team from the Cayman Islands. Kick off is set for 8:30 p.m.
I want to send A BIG thank you to Marco Vélez and the senior players for helping me out. I could not do the job I do without your help. As well as Vane Figueroa (our Operations Director) and the office staff, you truly are doing a magnificent job.
And an extra big thank you to YOU the fans. Wither its Islanders fans in San Antonio, Cary or anywhere else, Islanders' fans are always present and always give us the boost we need.
I just want to remind everyone that history could be in the making and you can follow all the CFU updates and news through our website, Facebook page and Twitter.
Lets make HISTORY AND DO IT AS ONE!!!!!!
