“All Islanders fans should be very proud of their team tonight; not just the players that played but also the players that supported them from the sidelines. It was truly a team effort after traveling Friday, playing Saturday, traveling again on Sunday and play another game tonight. The first half we played very well but could not quite get the push home for the opening goal. The boys can now get some rest, which they deserve and will be ready to go again on Friday;” said Head Coach Adrian Whitbread.
Gregory Richardson had the first dangerous opportunity of the match. David Foley crossed a ball into the box and Richardson made a nice run towards the back post, he volleyed the ball but the shot sailed high.
Foley would continue to create offensive opportunities. Half way through the second half, the Islanders forward fired a shot from the top of the box that sailed wide of the frame.
In the second half, Puerto Rico international Hector “Pito” Ramos brought down a ball deep in Caledonia territory and laid it off for Foley. Foley from right outside the box got a shot off but it would sail wide.
In the dying moments of the match, second half sub Joshua Hansen whipped a cross into the box, after a dangerous bounce, Jay Needham tried to connect but the ball sailed out of bounds.
