Islanders Continue in First Place with Draw in Carolina

The Puerto Rico Islanders extended their undefeated streak to three games tonight when they tied the Carolina RailHawks 1 - 1 at WakeMed Soccer Park, in the second “NASL Classic” of the season. With this result, the Islanders maintain their lead of the NASL standings with 17 points, position they hold since season start.

The Railhawks started the action, being awarded four corner kicks in the first ten minutes. In the 9th minute,Railhawks forward Schilawski almost scored off a corner kick, but the Islanders quickly cleared the ball. 

In the 34th minute, David Foley executed a free kick close the the corner flag. Neddham was able to head it towards Jonathan Faña giving the Islanders a 1-0 lead. 

Three minutes later, the Railhawks forced an arcobatic save for Islanders keeper Richard Martin. 

The Railhawks tied the game when Brian Shriver received a pass inside the box three minutes into the second half.  Carolina conituned to create offensive opportunites, including a Zimmerman goal that was called back by offisides. 

The Puerto Rico Islanders travel to the Caymen Islands to defend thier FCU Championship. The Islanders return to NASL action to play the Carolina Railhaks at WakeMed Soccer park on June 2nd. Kick off is set for 7:00pm
