Bayamon, Puerto Rico (May 11, 2012)The first place's Puerto Rico Islanders receive the Fort Lauderdale Strikers this Saturday at Bayamón Soccer Complex. The Islanders return to action after falling to the Strikers on April 25th at Lockhart Stadium. The game is free to the public and transportation between the Juan Ramon Loubriel and the Bayamon Soccer Complex is also complimentary.
“We play the Strikers for the second time this season. Still being a top the league after a two week break has been very satisfying but as I have said before, it is a long season. The Fort Lauderdale Strikers are a very good team so I expect a hard game but my players know what is expected of them and they are ready and prepared,” said Head Coach Adrian Whitbread.
About the Strikers
The Strikers have played two games since beating the Islanders. They fell to the Tampa Bay Rowdies 3-1 at Al Lang Stadium in St Petersburg. Fort Lauderdale bounced back and drew with the Carolina RailHawks 3-3 with goals from Lance Laing, Walter Restrepo and Mark Anderson.
About the Islanders
The Islanders took a break in action since the last match against the Strikers on April 25th as they prepare to defend their CFU Championship. The Team is about to embark on a stretch where they will play six games in 13 days, which include CFU as well as NASL action. The Islanders are currently in first place with 10 points.
