Bayamon, Puerto Rico (April 18, 2012) – The Puerto Rico Islanders are still undefeated after tonight’s 0-0 draw against FC Edmonton during their third match of the North American Soccer League (NASL) 2012 season. With this draw, the Islanders continue their lead of the NASL season with seven points.

“Im delighted with the point. We had a tough weekend, a long weekend traveling. We tried to win the game. We’re still undefeated at home, third clean sheet in a row, and we’re looking forward to Saturday’s game.” said Head Coach Adrian Whitbread.

The PR Islanders led the offense during the start of the game. In the 21st   minute, Puerto Rican forward Hector “Pito” Ramos penetrated the FC Edmonton defense and took a shot on goal that was saved by the goalkeeper.

In the 31st minute, FC Edmonton’s Shaun Saiko ran past the Islanders’ defense into the box for a one-one with goalkeeper Richard Martin, but his shot went past the crossbar.

After several more attempts from both teams, the first half ended a 0-0 draw.

In the second half, the PR Islanders almost got the desired goal when David Foley reached the box and made a pass to Faña, who missed the shot.

With this result, the Puerto Rico Islanders are still undefeated during the 2012 season, and have extended their home undefeated Regular Season streak, which they hold since the beginning of last 2011 season. On top of that, this is Islanders’ goalkeeper Richard Martin’s third straight clean sheet this season. Martin was named Defensive Player of the Week last Monday by the NASL.
