Forward Jonathan Faña of the first-place Puerto Rico Islanders was named the North American Soccer League ( NASL) Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and contributing to the build-up play for one additional goal in the 4-0 victory over the San Antonio Scorpions on Sunday, April 15 at Heroes Stadium in front of 13,131 fans.
The Dominican international, who has recorded four shots on target on five attempts this season, scored the opening goal against the Scorpions. Faña, was honored as the NASL Offensive Player of the Week in week two of 2011, after scoring twice in a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies on April 17.
Faña, in his third season with the Club, led the Islanders with 12 goals last season.
