Along with the rest of the country, the Puerto Rico Islanders mourn the loss of the first Puerto Rican Cardinal Luis Aponte Martínez, a great fan and friend to the Puerto Rico Islanders family. He most recently spent time with the players and some members of the front office last fall before the Islanders squared off against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The Club would like to send its most sincere condolences to everyone who was touched by the Cardinal. His joy, wisdom and kindness will certainly be missed. May he rest in peace.
