Bayamón, PR- The Puerto Rico Islanders have been crowned Champions of the 2012 Bayamón Pre-Season Cup after defeating Bayamón FC 5-1. This is Head Coach Adrian Whitbread’s first championship since taking the helm of the Islanders in December 2011.

The Islanders continued their hot pre-season streak by dominating possession the entire match, led by two goals from Jamaican Forward Nicholas Addlery. These were Addlery’s first goals of the pre-season. Also, Forward Jonathan Faña continued his impressive pre-season by scoring another goal, his fifth in the past two matches of the Bayamón Pre-Season Cup. Faña lead all goal scorers in the tournament.

The match was preceded by the Open Day, where fans could interact with celebrities and the Islanders squad. This event was made to help the Golitos Foundation, which aids families that have been affected by autism. We would like to thank our fans for participating of this great event and demonstrating the true spirit of the Islanders fan base and for supporting the club, the “Golitos” Foundation and helping us lift the “Bayamon Pre-Season Cup”.
