Bayamón, PR (February 24 , 2012) - The Puerto Rico Islanders, in partnership with Bayamon FC and the city of Bayamon, visited the Rafael Hernandez School today as part of the Soccer 101 program. The Soccer 101 program was established as a program to teach fundamental soccer skills and spread the development of soccer in schools across the Island.
"It was an amazing experience, maybe the kids didn’t do it so great for it being the first time but, they left enthusiastic about soccer ", said Santiago Ayala, Physical Education Teacher of the Rafael Hernandez Elementary School.
The Puerto Rico Islanders' front office as well as the Bayamon FC coaching staff were teaching the kids the fundamentals of soccer. The students participated in basic passing drills, kicking drills, and exercise designed help teach them how to work as a team. Soccer 101 will take place for the rest of the year in various schools across the Island.
