Once again the Puerto Rico Islanders reaffirmed their support towards the Puerto Rican national team in their latest international tour. This time the Puerto Rico national team coach has recruited a new assistant in the Puerto Rican international Marco Velez. The “Huracan Azul” begins its international tour this Wednesday when they square off against El Salvador under 23 team this Wednesday, February 22.
“Tonight I look forward watching the Puerto Rico National team play and watching Hector Ramos and JackieMarrero play against a good side in the El Salvador under-23 team. I also look forward to watching a lot of players that have been part of the Islanders family and we are hope full that they will come back,” said head coach Adrian Whitbread.
Puerto Rico is about to embark on a three game tour that includes stops against the El Salvador U-23 team on February 22 and two more games against Nicaragua on the 24 and the 26th. Five players have been called up were once Islanders including Alexis Rivera, Richard Martinez, Noah Delgado, and recently signed forwards Hector “Pito” Ramos and Joseph “Jackie: Marrero. The team also includes ex-Islanders Andres Cabrero and Cristian Arrieta. Coach Campos also called up Islanders academy product Gustavo Rivera.
