Posted on Mon, Oct 3, 2011

The Puerto Rico Islanders celebrated their third annual “Open Day” at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium this Sunday, October 2nd. The team opened its door to several hundred fans participating in several drills, giving a tour of the team locker room, taking pictures with players and signing autographs.

“It was a fantastic event where players got an opportunity to interact with the fans. Its always fun to watch the players act like kids, it was just everyone having a good time playing soccer, participating in drills or just laughing having a great time with the kids. We even saw some of the parents and older fans out their on the pitch, it was a huge success” , said Orlando Torres Director of Community Outreach and Fan Development.

The Islanders gave the fans an opportunity for all fans to play on the legendary Juan Ramon Loubriel. The field was spilt up into different sections where fans could play small sided games with the players; square off against the teams goalies in penalty kick shoot out, and even an area to take pictures with all clubs three championship trophies.

Puerto Rico will square off against the Fort Lauderdale this Saturday October 8th at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium. Kick off is set for 7:30pm.
