Bayamón, PR. (August 30, 2011) – The Puerto Rico Islanders extended their undefeated home streak tying with FC Edmonton 1-1 with only ten players. The Orange Troop seeks to extend their six game unbeaten streak  when they travel to Silverback Park to face the Atlanta Silverbacks September 3rd. All Islander fans can watch the game at the “Watch Party” at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon. The Islanders come  home on September 7th to play the MLS-Bound Montreal Impact.

In the 17th minute, Ray Burse was forced into a spectacular save after a brillant strike  from Van Neerdham.

Later in the first half, Nicolas Addlery took a left footed shot inside the box after a brilliant pass from  Jonathan Fana. Addlery's shot sailed high of the frame.

The second half started, with instant offense. Bouraee broke through the defense and was left one on one with  the goalkeeper, but a FC Edmonton defender was able to track back and diffuse the attack.

Immediately after Bouraee's attack ,  Micheal Cox, scored the first goal of the game in the 47th minute after a cross from Shaun Saiko. Cox, struck the ball in mid-air, beating two Islanders center backs, and scoring his second goal of the season.

In the 51st minute, Fana took advantage of  a FC Edmonton defensive error. After a bad clearance from the FC Edmonton backline, Fana cut towards the middle of the box and beat the goalkeeper and tied the game. Fana has scored two goals in the last two games.

“As a forward, I never get tired of fighting for the ball. I always fight and don’t quit.  A forward has to force an error and take advantage of the opportunity to score,” said Jonathan Fana.

Due to the second yellow card, Osei Telesford was ejected from the game after a foul committed on Saiko.

After a corner from Jarad Van Schaik, David Foley took a shot on goal but the ball landed in Rein Baart’s hands.

The Orange Troop didn’t seem to be down a player during the second half with constant plays from Fana on the left wing looking for crosses into middle of the box.

With a 1-1 tie with FC Edmonton, the Orange Troops maintains their undefeated home streak that extends their unbeaten streak to six.
