Battle of the Titans

The Puerto Rico Islanders will host the first place Carolina Railhawks this Saturday at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium. This is the first trip from Carolina to “La Islandera” as they try and end the Islanders home undefeated streak. Puerto Rico is currently nine points behind the Railhawks whom already clinched their playoff berth. Kick off is set for 7:30pm.  

About the Railhawks

The Railhawks are coming off a last minute defeat, falling to the third place Fort Lauderdale Strikers 2-1. Ex- Puerto Rico Islanders midfielder Martin Nunez sealed the game with a one touch volley giving the Strikers its first win against the Railhawks, and Carolinas third lose of the season.

About the Islanders

The “Orange Troop” beat the Atlanta Silverbacks 2-0 at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium, extending their home unbeaten streak to nine games. David Foley broke through the Silverbacks defense giving the Islanders a 1-0 advantage. Kevon Villaroel scored his first goal of the season, sealing the 2-0 victory over the Atlanta Silverbacks. The Islanders are one of only three teams to beat the Railhawks this season, with a 2-1  victory over Carolina at the beginning of the season.

Defensive Stand

In the last five games the Puerto Rico Islanders have allowed two goals and have posted three shut outs. The Islanders also count on defensive player of the week Aaron Pitchkolan, who led the Islanders to an important three points in Edmonton, with one of the best goals of the seaon.
